The Beginning of Something New

I'll be writing more about this as we adjust to it. From today we have a new bus system. We have two new routes. Our buses look different, and they no longer go to and from the Central Bus Station. For those who can read Hebrew you'll see that they are from Pisgat Zeev, across from the mall.

The good news is that more buses will come up to my neighborhood. That's the 461. It will be much better for me.

The bad news is that we'll have to take another bus or the train just to get to the bus, and not enough lines go to the Pisgat Ze'ev Mall. And it's also pretty far, not walking distance from all the other Jerusalem neighborhoods.

Shabbat Shalom

And don't forget the light rail has been subject to attacks and severe vandalism.

That sounds like it'll definitely take some getting used to. Maybe it's just me, coming from a big city, but I love feeling connected to the rest of the country. That's why we didn't go to Karmiel, in the end; only so many buses in and out. Here... given a couple of hours, you can get anywhere.

Shalom!
Let's not forget about the conditions in which travelers will have to wait for buses: lack of protection from bad weather, security, especially at night, etc. This new plan does much more harm than good. The people who depend on public transportation were not seriously consulted.

Pesky, Hadassa, Tzivia, all true.
Almost all the Binyamin buses, except 949, were banished from the bus station, and the new stops "nearby" aren't any better than Pisgat Zeev.
