Pesach so far

I goofed again
and

did spellcheck
after

posting all the
pictures,

so I have to
repost the pictures!

As I've already kvetched, ranted and raved, my husband and I had to get ready for Passover all by our getting-older selves. You can see him here making the "Charoset" all alone.

We do the super-simple recipe. Luckily we grew up with the same one.

  • apples
  • nuts (almonds and walnuts)
  • wine
  • cinnamon

Chop the apples and nuts in a large wooden bowl. Then you add wine and cinnamon, and a little more, and that's it. Yes, keep tasting. During my 25 years as a vegetarian, it was my main course and snack until I finished it off within the first few days after the seder. Of course we make lots of it.

I mentioned that we couldn't find everything; a few things were missing, including our red kettle. Well, we found it Monday afternoon. It was in the big urn. That's the good news. The bad news is that they were both disgustingly mildew. More good news. I never liked them. Years ago here in Israel, all the kitchen things were cheap aluminum. So now I have a good reason to replace them. I found a cheap urn, stainless steel.

I'm a sucker for the dawn...

...and the morning moon, too, which shows up in the opposite direction.

I took the bus to Jerusalem for the shopping, and so did lots of others. This picture doesn't do the crowds justice. I should have held the camera at an angle and used the little screen to focus. there's still lots to learn in using the digital camera.

And here's Jerusalem, from the bus...
