Because of this I took the bus!

Yes, it's true.

I was walking from my daughter's house to the "hitchhiking post" out of Ofra going north. According to my calculations had missed the bus and didn't care. What's the point of spending NS6.80, about $1.50 for a ride to Shiloh, when I'd still need to walk up the hill?

Strange, I had been in Ofra trying to get a ride to work in Beit El just a few hours before and I didn't notice the candy machine.

How could I resist it. I just had to take out my camera and photograph it from a couple of angles. Then, just as I was putting my camera away... there came the bus. So I took out my multi-ride bus ticket, the right one --I have three different ones in my bag-- and got on. As we pulled into Shiloh, I was in shock. For the first time in weeks--a colorful sunset.

Then as I got to my house, I noticed the yummy fruit on my neighbors' tree. they did invite me to eat as many as I could. So I took a couple and ate them outside...

  3. nosher, In Hebrew it's called "shessek." I never saw them in New York.

baleboosteh, The sunet was also very welcome, since we hadn't had color for weeks. Not all that strange, considering all the kids who wait for buses and rides there.

  4. My kids also love shesek- my husband even took them to a friend's moshav recently to pick their little hearts out.

I never heard of this fruit until we moved here!
