I ought to do my nails. The nail-polish is all chipped.
I have a ton of dishes to wash.
I have to burn the latest pictures onto a cd.
My father had even more guests today to wish him good luck etc and tell him how much they'll miss him.
This was his last Shabbat, because next week it'll just be a Saturday.
This little "adventure" of taking care of my father isn't over yet. We have to fly to Arizona tomorrow morning.

ReplyDeleteHope you are already having your safe flight. Like Rhonda said, I hope if your family in Az realizes how wonderful it is for your father to have this day surrounded by family they will make an effort to create a Shabbat experience for him, too.
ReplyDeleteI have always thought Shabbat might be nice for older people because young people are always rushing around. Shabbat forces them to sit still and listen; pay attention, maybe appreciate more the relative immobility and life experiences of those who are older.
Maybe I'm just hoping my kids will take such great care of me as you have of your dad.
