Great New Crafts Hobby

I'm really having fun going to the "seniors" activities on Sundays. First we exercise led by a very professional neighbor. Her type of exercises are based on yoga and are nothing like what I learned and taught a gazillion years ago. After that I stay for the Arts & Crafts. I must admit that they are my very favorite two activities. I just don't make time to do anything else on Sundays.

This week we did weaving. Now, in all honesty, the last time I did weaving was when I taught my daughters how to make pot-holders on those square looms with loops of cotton jersey. Does anyone else remember making those?

I also have some vague memories of "Indian" basket-weaving being taught at Jones Beach. My mother used to love to take us to those sorts of activities there.

The weaving we learned how to do was with a similar fabric but long and unlooped. I cut off some long pieces of various colors and then started my "masterpiece." I think I bit off more than I could chew, as the saying goes, since I took a large loom and refused to just weave one color at  at time lines.  I started one of my abstract inspirations. And since we could take them home with yarn, I sure idid.

Since I've busy most of the week. I wonder how long it will take me to get this weaving project finished. And, no, I haven't a clue what I'm going to do with it.

  1. What fun. I would look forward to Sundays too, if I had this to do.

That will make an interesting wall hanging, but could also be a nice floor mat! Should be easily washable. Might be good to have in front of the kitchen sink or by the tub. Try to keep the left and right edges from being pulled too tight, so that it will be a nice rectangle when finished.
