קפה קלוי וטחון עם הלNow, what's cardamom? Yes, click if you didn't before. Apparently, it's a favorite addition to coffee in Arab homes. It sure gives more kick than French Vanilla! I'm glad I waited a week after the flu to try it, and it will now be a regular on my shopping list!
Roasted and ground coffee with hal cardamom
I cooked it up in a pot with water and sugar and added milk. I don't think that's the way it's traditionally served, but I like it.
Hadassa, thanks so much!!

Interesting! It's a favourite in Indian food, including some sweets, but I can't stand it. Do I dare try it in coffee...?
Jennifer, there's nothing to lose. I really liked it.
Shalom!
Batya, I'm always happy to share culinary favorites.
Jennifer, I say try it. The cardamon may taste very different in coffee. I was familiar with cardamon in Indian cooking; my husband introduced me to cardamon in coffee.
I'm glad you got me started. I love it and just bought another at Rami Levi, shaar Binyamin.
Kaffeh turki im hel (or, to hel with it) is one of my favorite afternoon pick-me-ups! And cardamom is heaven in a spice jar. I made vegan chai latte cupcakes for Shabbat, heavy on the hel, and mmmmmmm!
I have lots to learn about hel.
And all this time I thought the Middle East was a place and not a flavor...
swag, here it's an adjective and great coffee!
Batya...ENJOY! I'm square and only like good old fashion Nes ............
Are you a tea drinker? May I recommend Apple and Honey Herbal tea from Wissotzky.
Soooo soothing after a good Shabbos meal. My husband sometimes add a cinnamon stick to his tea. Says it hits the spot...
Shabbat Shalom
