Last night we had guests in the succah, a rare occasion of late. Our kiddies generally don't visit during the week, and the hubby works. When the kids were younger, they were home, so we did entertain, but now our succah's a very empty nest most of the time.
Actually I'm mentioning the guests, because you know her, she's no other than Isramom! She and the Israpop came over with two of their stunning Isragals.
They were in the neighborhood, really! No, I don't live in the middle of nowhere. Shiloh is in the center of the country! And we have a modest tourism industry. People from all over the world, all religions come to Shiloh to see the tel of the Biblical city. And our good friends, the "Isra's," had gone for some tours there. Very conveniently, they had to be in nearby Eli later in the evening. So what could be better than visiting old friends like us?
I must admit that I ruined their diets by serving 1, 2, 3 cookies with black and white chocolate chips. OK, maybe they have better self-control, but I sure ruined mine!
We had great fun reminiscing about old times. Isramom and I have known each other for almost 40 years, and 35 years ago, on Succot, she asked if she could bring a "friend" along.
As they say: The rest is history... A few months later we hosted their engagement party.
May friendship, like wine, improve as time advances,
And may we always have old wine, old friends, and young cares.
A Classic Toast,
