So, Boyle's #2

No real surprise that Susan Boyle, the surprising singing sensation only made it to second place in the You've Got Talent final. In the American version, the long-time front runner also lost.
For Boyle, no doubt that her present fame is already far beyond what she could have expected. She is more famous than the winning group.
I don't know if singing a different song would have raised her score enough to get first prize. In terms of a future career, a limited repertoire is restricting.
Seabiscuit didn't win every race, but that didn't diminish his legend.

What Was Susan Boyle Missing?

Apparently, the recent Britain's Got Talent singing sensation, Susan Boyle tried to make it as a singer twenty-five years ago. There are now a few examples of her early attempts on youtube, and I'll follow this with some I've found.

One of the world's great mysteries is:

"Why do some people have glorious success and others, even more talented or good looking, fail?

The judges in the earliest rounds of Britain's TV talent show, Got Talent obviously found the dichotomy between Boyle's appearance and her voice to be a great gimmick. The publicity the show has received since they released her late stage audition is priceless. No offense to Miss Boyle; I sincerely hope that she "laughs all the way to the bank." And I hope and pray that she has trustworthy people looking after her interests. Too many performers discover too late that their earnings have disappeared down via their helpful agents and handlers.

It's said that talent isn't enough. You have to want fame and success more than anything, plus have charisma and luck. I don't know what will happen to Miss Boyle, but in the meantime, let's enjoy her singing:

I Dream A Dream, Too

Susan Boyle isn't the only amateur making it big. Other bloggers are getting published and paid. OK, they have more daily hits than I get in a year, but I can dream.

At least other publications do publish my writing, like the Gantseh Megillah. Check it out!

Now if I could only find someone to pay for my articles, photos etc...

Following is a recording of Susan Boyle's first recorded song, which was ignored until now.

All For The Ratings

Hat tip: my husband, who caught it while watching the news.

Yes, I guess the PR and recruitment people for Britain's TV talent show, Got Talent, are all getting bonuses for finding the perfect "surprise" talent, Susan Boyle. I agree with Tanya Gold that it shouldn't surprise anyone that a show-stopping voice can come out of a homely woman. To see and hear her click here.

I have no doubt that the judges' comments, grimaces and gestures were all scripted and rehearsed. And to keep the show from spilling out of its allotted time slot, Boyle and all other contestants were coached on what questions they'd be asked and how to answer. Yes, like in beauty pageants. Without rehearsals, everyone would just go on and on or freeze up. There are also a slew of try-outs and casting sessions until the actual program. That means that contrary to the "shocked faces" of the staff and judges, they were all well prepared.

It's so "Hollywood." They found an older and white Jennifer Hudson, the American Idol "surprise."
I just hope that Boyle's post "amateur night" doesn't hold the same sorts of tragedys as Hudson's.
