When You Need Some Catered Food...

When I have guests at home I cook, but the other evening we ended up having a family event in Jerusalem for which we couldn't cook. The logistics and ambiance in a restaurant also wasn't a good idea. So I decided to contact Coney Island Bakery, 0526684005.

Even though Coney Island Bakery had closed that great little place they had on Jaffa Street, in the center of Jerusalem, that they are still in business. Now they just do catering. Coney Island Bakery has multiple kitchens, five separate ones:

• dairy
• meat
• vegan/vegetarian
• gluten free
• bakery for every taste

Coney Island Bakery does everything, from small orders to large weddings. We ordered a few quiches, of which one was vegan, plus a few salads and desserts. Here are the pictures:

 

Everyone enjoyed themselves eating the tasty foods. There was a really nice selection, and the food was custom-cooked.  Prices depend on what you order, or if you have a strict budget, they will do their best to come up with an affordable menu. They also delivered, which was very helpful. Coney Island Bakery aims to please. They care about their customers. We plan on ordering from them, again.

Brought "Coney Island" Quiches for Pot Luck Dinner

Some friends and I decided to get together for an impromptu "potluck" dinner the other night in Jerusalem. I wanted to contribute, even though I couldn't bring anything from home. So I decided to call the Coney Island Bakery on Jaffa Road and order a quiche. Since I couldn't decide between the irresistible sounding spinach and dried tomato ones, I ended up with both. Since they were baked to order, I had them hold the cheese, because I had remembered that some of my friends have been avoiding dairy.

When I got to the bakery, it took all of my self-control to resist buying some of their beautifully decorated baked goods. These, too, can be baked and decorated to order.

Actually, they do catering and also have a meat kitchen at a different location. Call them at 029400008 for more information and orders. They deliver, too.

You must be wondering how the quiches were, since I ordered without having tasted them. They were delicious, and as you can see from the pictures above, we all started serving ourselves before I managed to take my camera out and shoot.

I'm glad I decided to order the quiches. Everyone loved them and the knish, too.

It Was Worth it!

When I first began planning the large Sheva Brachot, post-wedding celebration for my son and his wife, I, with the encouragement of one of my kids, thought I could somehow do it without a caterer.  I figured I'd combine my cooking, my daughter's and various take-out and store-bought things.  But then the various additional logistics such as finding and setting up enough tables, chairs etc. made it seem a bit more complicated. Neighbors, younger than us, who have married off quite a few kids told us to get realistic and hire a full-service caterer.

That's what we did. We actually took our next-door neighbor who had been recommended by many.  He and his staff did it all.  They got the tables, chairs, tablecloths, plates etc.  He bought and cooked all the food, set it up and cleaned up afterwards.

 

My husband, family and I were able to just enjoy ourselves and the guests, food etc.

The fancy challot were gifts from a neighbor and the popular Herby's Bakery from Beit El.

I just made a few decorations to make sure that it looked like a real party.
