Join us at Ancient Shiloh, Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh the same location mentioned in the Bible. Yes, it's the place where the Mishkan Tabernacle stood for 369 years, Chana Hannah prayed for a son and later brought her precious son, Shmuel Samuel to be trained for leadership. Rosh Chodesh Shevat, Wet, Cold and Sunny, Onward to Adar

The cold wind kept most of the regulars home on Rosh Chodesh Shevat, but two of us braved the raw wind and enjoyed the crisp sunny morning at Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh. The sky was blue and clear, but it was very obvious that it had rained hard overnight.

Baruch Hashem, it has been a relatively wet winter, just as it should be, and the farmers say that the cold is also very important for some of the fruit. So far, we haven't had any snow in Shiloh and neighboring Eli, but there have been reports of light snow in Beit El and Gush Etzion.

It was clear to me that Gd had the sun shine this morning so that we could go to the Holy location of the Biblical Tabernacle, Mishkan, in Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh. Gd willing our prayers caught the express straight to Gd.

For well over a decade, I've been inviting women to join me on Rosh Chodesh to pray together in the very same location where the Biblical Chana prayed.

Meet Me at Tel Shiloh, Rosh Chodesh Tevet Women's Prayers

It's already day two of Chanukah. That means we must make plans for Rosh Chodesh.

The first day of Tevet will be this coming Sunday! Gd willing we'll have an inspiring Tfilat Nashim, Women's Rosh Chodesh Prayer session at Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh, the location of Chana's Prayer for a son to lead the Jewish People out of the anarchy of the Judges, Shoftim.

One More Week to Rosh Chodesh Av

One of the stock questions doctors ask people  when checking on dementia and connection to reality is the date. Now I must be perfectly honest, since I don't have to fill in any daily forms since I stopped teaching, and I have no upcoming trip to the states with planes to catch, I'm pretty awful about remembering the date, at least according to the goyish calendar.

I certainly know the day of the week, or how would I know which day is morning hours for the pool for women? And of course I quickly memorize my weekly work schedule, which varies from week to week, but without checking my phone or a news site on the computer, I can't tell you what the actual date today is in July. And we celebrate the Jewish birthdays in my family!

But if I'm out at night and can see the moon I can give a pretty accurate guess as what date it is on the Jewish Calendar, which is strictly lunar. Just like I can tell time on a regular clock that doesn't have humbers by the placement of the hands, I can see the approximate date by the size/shape of the moon in the night sky.

And I know the name of the month, because I've been organizing Women's Rosh Chodesh Prayers at Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh for a number of years. This coming Friday will be Rosh Chodesh Av. Please join us if you can, and spread the word about our group. Rosh Chodesh, the first of the Jewish Month is traditionally a Jewish Holiday for women. And Shiloh is a traditional, from the days of the Bible, place for prayer, especially women's prayer. One of the most famous Biblical stories about women and prayer takes place in Shiloh. It was in Shiloh, which was then the religious and administrative Capital of the Jewish Nation where Chana (Hannah) prayed successfully for a son. And that son, Shmuel (Samuel) led the Jewish People from the anarchy of the time of the Judges into the glory and magnificence of the Kingdom of David.

Big Day Tomorrow in Shiloh

Women are invited to come to Shiloh HaKeduma, Tel Shiloh for tours, prayers, shiurim, Torah talks, music and more! Tomorrow night, Wednesday, August 28, 2013, the 22nd of Elul 5773.

The official program is in Hebrew, but the experience, our prayers and more are in all languages.  There's food, crafts, jewelry, clothes etc for sale.  But the true focus of the event is prayer, women's prayer at the site of the ancient Mishkan, Tabernacle.

 

 

 

 

For at least the third year in a row, the amazing and mesmerizing Rabbanit Yemima Mizrachi will be the featured speaker.

Rabbi Shmuel Yosef and the very popular singer Etti Ankori are also on the program.

Each year the crowds get larger, because the program is so spiritually thrilling and successful.  Women and teenage girls return year after year.  Many girls high schools take advantage of the T'fillat Chana event as their annual Elul Teshuva-repentance program.
