Luckily The Security Guy Didn't Force Me to Delete This

When I was in New York to bring my father here to Israel, we visited some of his doctors.  One was in a gorgeous office building.  I managed to take this shot before the security guard told me to stop taking pictures.  It's definitely a gorgeous building, and I'm sorry I couldn't have photographed more.

A security guard in most places (excepting highly secure places like military bases and the like) has NO right to force you to delete pictures you've taken.

I was once forced to at an open air concert.

Ah, but that's only because you did not know your rights.

Even if you took a picture at a concert where they have large signs saying "NO PHOTOGRAPHY" they *still* can't force you to delete your pictures. The worst they can do is tell you that you are no longer welcome and have you arrested for trespassing if you do not leave.

Read the card at the link I gave you. It provides excellent info on what your rights as a photographer are and what other parties can and cannot demand of you.

wolf, thanks so much. I've also been stopped in some stores both in NY and Israel. Other places, especially, when I say that I blog and will give them publicity don't mind.
That reminds me that I still haven't blogged about the few kosher restaurants I visited in NY.
