Bad News About My New Canon IXUS 145

Simply put, the flash on the Canon IXUS 145 stinks. It's much too weak. My old Canon A620 had a much, much better flash. I had been hoping that the much stronger zoom of the Canon IXUS 145 was accompanied by a suitable flash, but it isn't. Even pictures of a couple of meters out at night in a well-lit place look dark. And trying to lighten them isn't effective at all.

If I had been aware of that problem, I never would have bought the camera.

Camera Dilemma!

My old trusty, antique of a digital camera, the Canon 620 is falling apart. I must replace it. Even though prices are cheaper in the states, I've enjoyed the life long service I get from the store in which I bought it. When I got the camera, the store was Photo Nissim on Jaffa Street, Jerusalem across from the "Davidka." Since then the store has moved to the nearby Clal Building and has a very informative internet business, http://camera.co.il/  and branches.

The Canon IXUS 133 seems to be the best deal with 36 month guarantee.

Any advice, input? Thanks

They seem pretty efficient this time. I got a "note" from Ezzie, announcing that one of (wording makes it clear that they take for granted that bloggers are monobloggers, unlike my rather Gemini-self) my blog was nominated in JIB's the Slice of Life in Israel category.

I was sure that it must have been me-ander, since I consider it my more "personal" blog, but it's Shiloh Musings. There's an option to "change categories," but I won't since if my readers perceive that Shiloh Musings is about real life in Israel, then I must respect it. I consider it my more political blog, but I know that for people abroad life in Shiloh=politics.

So far, me-ander has been nominated Best Photo/Graphics Blog. My Canon A620 was a good investment! Remind me to blog about my "new camera case!"

Through rain, hail, thunder and lightening!

I guess going to work sometimes is like going through hell and high water.
When I opened the door today to leave for work, the rain and hail were pouring from the sky with such force, I almost forgot that the rain was a blessing from G-d.

Thank G-d and Canon Cameras, since you can actually see the rain falling in these pictures. There are times when 7.1 pixels aren't too many.

I must admit that I didn't walk out in that rain. I changed into my boots and packed extra shoes, and by then, even though it was a few minutes past my usual time to leave, I left, braving not only the rain and hail, but the accompanying thunder and lightening. Yes, I unplugged the computer including the phone line.

The storm, politely, took a break, long enough for me to walk down the hill. I waited for a ride and managed to get one of the bullet-proof school vans going to Ofra. From there I caught a ride to the T Junction to Beit El and from there a ride to Beit El, where I walked the rest of the way. The rain and hail were so strong at times, it seemed like a snow storm was about to start.

Then it stopped, and it was pretty dry once I finished work close to 6:30pm.

Now for another wet experience; the dishes await, and they're sure dirty!
