This week's riches of blog carnivals must be to remind me that I have two to prepare. One is the debut of Blogging About Losing Weight and the other is the February Kosher Cooking Carnival.
It's all about food, isn't it. That includes another Carnival of the Recipes. And lastly, at least for this morning, is the Carnival of Education. Enjoy them both!

Better Late Than Never
You may have noticed the silence here and on Shiloh Musings for thirty hours or more. I hope you noticed. I hope you popped in to visit...
After my friend and I (and her infant granddaughter) sweated to the oldies, I got myself spruced up, went to Ofra to babysit for the grandkids and then to a wedidng in Jerusalem. I stayed over at friends, because the friend and I study together in Matan, and we had a lecture this morning.
So... after picking up my new reading glasses, the cheapest "free" frame but spluging a big ns40 on a chain--lots less than a nicer frame, I hiked to the bus station and came home. And here I am.
I hope I'll be able to sleep tonight, since I had my morning coffee at 2pm.
That's not the "later" the title refers to. I'm a bit late to see the lastest, most recent, Havel Havelim at Leora's. Over twenty bloggers already posted comments, and it's only Monday!
Considering that the last few previous posts here are all about blog carnivals of sorts, you must think that I'm finished with the subject. Sorry, but you won't be sorry to see that there's also a new edition of the Carnival of Recipes.
I love the community spirit among bloggers. And don't forget Kosher Cooking Carnival. Please send in your posts and anything suitable you see. And if you're interested in hosting one, please write to me at shilohmuse at yahoo dot com
Thanks

Thai Waffles
I was a bit nervous when I sent my waffle recipes to Carnival of the Recipes, because it was hosted by Thai Cooking - The Taste of Thailand and it was advertised that the recipes would be "Thai-ish." I was afraid that the host wouldn't be interested in waffles. A few years ago, a recipe I had sent was rejected by a host who hammed a ham theme. That's a way of keeping the Jews out; not a single recipe was kosher.
But good news, the waffles are in this week's carnival, as also are, lots of great recipes.
And to celebrate, watch the waffles appear!

All Cooked Out
Considering all the cooking, with the Jewish Holidays, even the fast of Yom Kippur requires pre-fast and post-fast meals, the latest Carnival of the Recipes came right in time. I can get plenty of ideas, even if I have to "adjust" the recipes.

Actually, we did "cook out," but my contribution was "homemade." Yes, at home I prepared a carrot salad. All it contains is:

Actually, we did "cook out," but my contribution was "homemade." Yes, at home I prepared a carrot salad. All it contains is:
- carrots, shredded/grated in the food processor
- a can of pineapple chunks, unsweetened
- raisins
Yes, that's it. Very easy, tasty and impressive. The raisins are optional, and all you need to remember is to buy the canned pineapple. Nothing can be simpler than that.

Don't bother taking out your cookbooks, take a look at the latest Carnival of Recipes, instead. You're bound to find something tasty and easy to make.
While you're at it, don't forget Risa's Kosher Cooking Carnival.
And send in your post for the next KCC. Thanks! Remember that it's more than just a recipe carnival, everything about kosher food!

Lots of Recipes
Before started the Kosher Cooking Carnival there was the Carnival of The Recipes and it's still going strong. This new edition is beautifully illustrated, and check out where my post is placed.
PS Even though it's a general recipe carnival, there are still lots of things which are actually kosher or very easy to adapt.

Something for Everyone Recipe Carnival
Just the thing to cheer me after being told that the pool has a "chlorine problem." As tired as I am I went off to the pool to wake up and should have expected bad news, since I could hear a man's voice. Oy!
Happily this very colorful Carnival of the Recipes was waiting on my computer. I'm sure that you'll find something to suit you, too!
And don't forget to send in your links to the next Kosher Cooking Carnival!
There is no limit to the amount of posts you can send, as long as they fit the criteria. You may also send in links to other bloggers' posts. Please use the carnival submission form.
If you're interested in hosting a Kosher Cooking Carnival, please don't be shy. It's great fun; just let me know which month you want. The calendar is filling. June's KCC will be hosted by West Bank Mama, July by Soccer Dad, and August will be at Here in HP. So, as you can see, hosting the Kosher Cooking Carnival is definitely the "in" thing to do for jbloggers. To reserve your month, please write to me at: shilohmuse at yahoo dot com
Keep smiling!

"Food, Glorious Food!"
One year I subbed in a girls high school, and during my time there, the 9th grade put on "Oliver," so I'm pretty familiar with the songs...
That's what this week's Carnival of The Recipes made me think of.
While we're talking blogger food carnivals, don't forget to send me your links for the Kosher Cooking Carnival. I'll be hosting it this month.
Remember that KCC isn't just a recipe carnival. It includes kosher food traditions, holiday foods, halachik articles, cookbook and restaurant reviews, anecdotes and, of course, kosher recipes! If you post or see anything concerning kosher food, please send via the carnival submission form.
Thanks

Even in this heat
I know that I have readers who are suffering/enjoying winter right now, but here in this part of the world it's summer, a very hot and dry summer.
Sometimes it's hard to eat and we even forget to drink. It seems like I'm always borderline dehydrated.
If I don't find a guest host for July's Kosher Cooking Carnival, I'll just do a slightly earlier August one to cover both months. If you're interested, please let me know at shilohmuse at gmail dot com. And if not, please remember to send me links to posts about kosher food. As we're approaching Shemitta year, when farming takes a "sabbatical," I'd appreciate posts on that, too. Remember, anecdotes, customs, cookbooks, restaurants, recipes--anything kosher!
And as I started in the title, even in this heat, we have to eat, so maybe you'll find some good ideas in the latest Carnival of Recipes.

In just two weeks!
Yes, in two weeks, this freezer will have to be Kosher for Passover.

As you can see from the little sticker on the frozen chicken on the lower shelf, our grocer is already selling Kosher L'Pesach food. But that doesn't help me with the pasta in the closet. Why are fattening carbohydrates always the last to go?
This year I started the panic two months ago, before Rosh Chodesh Shvat. When the house was full, I could wait until Purim. OK, I also had a smaller freezer then, but still. Do I have to start the inventory check and count-down just after Chanukah? Please remind me next year! Thanks!
Maybe I'll find some good ideas in the latest Carnival of the Recipes? It has lots of interesting recipes, some which can be used or adjusted to the kosher kitchen. Take a gander.

I'm Honored!
My ‘Too Easy Chocolate Icing” was given top spot in the latest Carnival of the Recipes! Thank you, Jami Leigh!
So far it has been a great Purim, but that honor is really icing on the cake..... ooohh!

Carnival Treats

Yes, this picture is from the Macheneh Yehuda Open Market in Jerusalem. It's hard not to overdose on sugar, just by walking there this time of the year.
For more variety, take a gander at the latest Carnival of Recipes. You're bound to find something good to try.
And pictures, just a reminder to get me your jpix picture links by shilohmuse at yahoo dot com Submissions by Sat 10th of March 12pm, Carnival opening on the Monday 12th March.
And the next Kosher cooking Carnival will be hosted, G-d willing, by the Baleboosteh! Please send in your links and any you see, which would be good for the carnival, either via blog carnival or shilohmuse at yahoo dot com.
Now, off to the dentist, ugh!

Everyone's cooking
There's some really nice stuff on Carnival of the Recipes.
Plenty of people no longer buy cookbooks, since all you have to do is google in the ingredients or basic food, and presto, you have a choice of recipes. It's easier than taking a stack of books off the shelf, going through the indexes (spelling?), making lists and sticking pieces of paper and comparing...
Now I'm off to my exercise class, and when I return, G-d willing KCC...........
