It seems like the last of the genre of Jewish blog carnivals is the Jewish Book Carnival. I'm involved with it and davka hosted the most recent one, May, 2018.

The carnival consists of all sorts of blog posts about Jewish books and authors, not just book reviews. If you'd like more information or would like to host an edition email carnival@jewishlibraries.org.

Jewish Book Review Carnival at The ProsenPeople

This month's edition of the Jewish Book Carnival is at The ProsenPeople, a Jewish Book Council blog. Take a look at the carnival of Jewish book reviews and find some great new Jewish books to read, buy for yourself or give as gifts to others.

It seems like this Jewish blog carnival is the strongest still going on. There are many participants and volunteers to host.

I still plan on posting a new joint format of Havel Havelim and the Kosher Cooking Carnival after Simchat Torah. If you have written or read some interesting posts about the Holidays, Rosh Hashannah, Yom Kippur and Succot/Simchat Torah, then please send me the links, thanks. Let's start with Havel Havelim, the long-running international Jewish blog carnival, which is hosted by volunteer bloggers each week. This week's, for the first time, is on One Bittersweet Symphony. Jewish Book Review Carnival, So Much to Read!

I have this whole pile of books waiting to be read and reviewed. It sometimes takes me forever to finish reading and write a review. Right now I'm in the middle of the Gefen book about survivors of Arab terror attacks...

Jewish Books, A Book Review Carnival, and Some Book Reflections

Tzivia, who has more blogs than even I do, has done a great job putting together the latest edition of the Jewish Book Carnival. I definitely recommend your reading it, checking out the books and also sharing the links of course.

We Jews are known as "the people of the Book," aren't we? I get such a kick out of seeing my grandchildren reading and showing interest in books. One is never too young to start. I started reading to my second daughter as soon as she was born, because I'd have my older daughter on my lap when nursing the baby, and I'd read to both of them. Nowadays mothers are told to start exposing the baby to "culture" even while still in utero.

I've always loved to read. A big benefit to my blogging are the books I get to review. Yes, of course, I have a review in the carnival.

New Creations on Esser Agaroth's Havel Havelim Plus Jblogging News

Esser Agaroth, who had done an awful lot to keep Havel Havelim going is this week's host.  Take a look and share this latest edition the veteran international Jewish blog carnival.  Not only did he do a great job collecting interesting posts, but he has revealed his latest hobby.  Here's an example:

I just wonder how he did it. My photo editing is limited to cropping and adjusting brightness and colors.

The Kosher Cooking Carnival is monthly, on Rosh Chodesh, and includes posts about every aspect of kosher food and kosher cooking. It also has a facebook page to coordinate hosts and announce what's new, besides the blog carnival form.

JPIX, the Jewish picture post blog carnival, is coordinated by Leora, has its own special submission form and appears a few times a year.

Recently I discovered the Jewish Book Carnival.  It also floats around the internet.

Lots of Jewish Books Reviewed

A few months ago I discovered on Leora's Sketching Out that there's another Jewish blog carnival. This  one is dedicated to book reviews about Jewish books.  It took me awhile, but I finally hooked up with it and am included in the latest of their monthly editions on My Machberet.

I have another book already read, ready to review (actually it's sitting right here next to the computer, hint! hint!) and a few waiting to be read for review, but with work and all the Jewish holidays, I just haven't been able to find the time.

I highly suggest checking out this book review carnival.  You'll certainly get ideas about books to read, buy for yourself or as gifts. 

Nothing beats books, real ones, with pages IMHO, because they last forever.  And you can read them on Shabbat and Jewish Holidays.  I know that nowadays many people read from electric "devices," but I haven't gotten into that yet, if I ever will.  Never say never, because I may find myself getting one of those modern contraptions.  Whenever I schlepp my heavy bag, which doesn't even have all of the books I really need, to Matan for classes, I wish I had one of those handy things which will give me multiple books in a small package.
