Rosh Chodesh Kislev, Women's Prayers at Tel Shiloh

Every Rosh Chodesh a group of women come to Ancient Tel Shiloh to pray where the biblical Chana prayed thousands of years ago. Chana's successful prayer for a child is one of the most famous stories in the Bible. She promised Gd that if He gave her a son, she would return the child to Shiloh to serve Gd and the Jewish People. There was nothing selfish in her prayer.

In response Gd gave her a son, Shmuel Hanavi, Samuel the Prophet, who led the Jewish People after the High Priest Eli died. His great accomplishments included anointing the first two Jewish Kings, Saul and David.

Join us on Rosh Chodesh.

There are many activities and exhibits in Ancient Shiloh which is an active archeological site. For more information contact 972 2-578-9111 and/or   visit@telshilo.org.il.

There's public transportation on bulletproof buses.

Women's Rosh Chodesh Elul Prayers at Ancient Shiloh

For those who have learned some Bible, the most well-known prayer by a woman was when Chana/Hannah prayed in Shiloh. I'm a longtime resident of Shiloh-- more than forty years-- and well over twenty years ago, I started inviting women to join me on Rosh Chodesh to pray Hallel and Musaf together.

Ancient Tel Shiloh is the exact location mentioned many times in the Tanach/Bible, where the Mishkan/Tabernacle rested for close to four hundred 400 years. שילה הקדומה Shiloh Hakeduma, Ancient Shiloh is a well developed, attractive archeology site with a gift shop and snack bar. It's possible to arrange tours or tour on your own. There are activities for those of all ages. For more information +972-2-5789111 visit@telshilo.org.il.

Ladies, join us if you can. If not, arrange to got to Ancient Shiloh another time.

It's a Very Good Time to Pray Together, Rosh Chodesh Kislev

Rosh Chodesh Kislev is just a few days away.

Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan was a two day Rosh Chodesh, the first on the 30th of Tishrei and the second on the first of Marcheshvan, so because of the ongoing war, a defensive war against Gazan Hamas terror, we women prayed together at Tel Shiloh, Ancient Shiloh, Shiloh Hakeduma on both days. A record number of women came to pray together.

This year's Rosh Chodesh Kislev 5784 is just one day, Tuesday November 14, 2023 at 8:30am.

Rosh Chodesh Adar Soon-- No Joke!

It's said that the month of Adar increases joy. One can look at it as the tail end of winter, and we're very ready for the warmth of spring and tapering off of rain. There's also the fact that the Purim holiday is in the middle of Adar, and it celebrates Gd's love for the Jewish People, His miracles against all odds, even in the Diaspora.

Rosh Chodesh Adar 5783 (2023) is actually two days, the 30th of Shevat and the 1st of Adar. Our Women's Rosh Chodesh Prayers at Tel Shiloh will, Gd willing, be Tuesday February 21, 2023, 8:30am.

Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan Women's Prayers at Tel Shiloh

I look at next week, and all I can say is that it's going to be a busy week. The past few weeks have also been busy, but in a different way. We've spent over three weeks on and off Jewish Holiday times, including two fast days.

Despite the holidays and all the necessary preparations, I managed to get to the Ariel Swimming Pool quite a few times.

Next week I Gd willing return to my studies in Matan. In addition there will be a memorial for friends who had been killed in the Yom Kippur War, 1973, and it's Rosh Chodesh Cheshvan. My women's prayer group plans on getting together in Shiloh Hakeduma-Tel Shiloh on the 1st of Cheshvan, Thursday 7/10/2021 at 8:30am.

Tel Shiloh is the Biblical Shiloh where the Mishkan Tabernacle stood as the central location for Jewish Prayers for almost four hundred years after the exodus from Egypt, during the time of the Judges. Shiloh is where Chana Hannah had prayed for a son, and when one was finally born to her, she took him Shmuel Samuel to serve with the priests after he was weaned. So, I'm sure you agree that Shiloh is the perfect place for women's prayers.

Shiloh Hakeduma has activities for the entire family and is easy to get to, also by public transportation.

Rosh Chodesh Sivan at Tel Shiloh

One of the most well developed archeological sites in Israel is Shiloh Hakeduma, the Biblical Tel Shiloh. It's the actual location of Shiloh in the Bible, which was the first religious and national Capital of the Jewish Nation.

In Shiloh Chana prayed for a child, and subsequently she gave birth to Shmuel, the Prophet Samuel, who led the Jewish People and anointed the first two kings, Saul and David.

That's what inspired me to begin to invite women to come to Holy Shiloh on Rosh Chodesh, the beginning of each Jewish Month to pray together.

The upcoming Rosh Chodesh is Sivan 5781, Wednesday May 12. We'll be meeting at 8:30 in the morning. I hope you'll be joining us.

Join Us Rosh Chodesh Adar

For thousands of years Jewish women have come to Shiloh to pray to Gd. Rosh Chodesh, the beginning of the New Month, is the traditional holiday for women, so I've been inviting women to join me at Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh to pray together. Especially now when our lives have been so challenged by COVID corona, we need to be together and pray.

Shiloh Hakeduma is the same location as Biblical Shiloh, where the Mishkan Tabernacle stood for almost four hundred years and Hannah prayed for a son who would rescue the Jewish People from the chaos of the Time of Judges, Samuel The Prophet.

Today there's a wonderful archeological park in Tel Shiloh with all sorts of attractions for all ages to learn from and enjoy. For more information 02-5789122 and visit@telshilo.org.il.

Perfect Visit to Tel Shiloh

Today my husband and I took visitors to Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh. I was happy to see lots of tourists there, Israelis, Jewish. There was a time when most of the tourists were Christian visitors from abroad. Now after close to a year living under the threat of COVID19 aka Coronavirus, foreign tourists don't come to Israel. Nobody wants to waste two weeks of a vacation in quarantine. Besides that, those who administer Shiloh Hakeduma have been working hard to bring more Israelis to see our local Biblical archeological site. From the buses and cars in the parking lot, it's clear that they are succeeding.

Today's Shiloh and the Biblical Shiloh are one and the same. It's where the Mishkan, Tabernacle -the forerunner of the Holy Temple- stood for close to four hundred years. Shiloh is where Chana prayed for a son and then was the location she took her son, Samuel to for his education. Shiloh Hakeduma is a wonderful place to spend the day.

Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh, Perfect Outdoor Site for All Ages

Kenes Shiloh #9
Rosh Chodesh Av
This week I was at Biblical Shiloh aka Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh twice. It's walking distance from my house, although the trek uphill from there to my house isn't easy. Yes, sometimes even I take rides. Shiloh Hakeduma, Tel Shiloh is an outdoor archeological site with indoor and outdoor activities, plus shaded areas. It's the actual Biblical location of Shiloh, where Chana prayed for a son, and the Tabernacle stood for close to four hundred years.

Sunday afternoon/evening was the 9th Kenes Shiloh, Shiloh Conference. Attendees came from all over the country, though fewer than usual.

As usual it began with an archeological tour of Tel Shiloh. Even this year when the foreign archaeologists and their crews weren't able to dig, there were still home-grown archaeologists, and we got reports.

The second section of the program was streamed online for those who couldn't attend in person. And those of us who did attend had the choice to sit indoors or outdoors.
This morning I went back down to Tel Shiloh, since it's Rosh Chodesh Av, the beginning of the Jewish Month Av. I've been organizing Women's Prayers at Tel Shiloh for many years. This time we were surprised to find a group of man just finishing off their prayers. Since Tel Shiloh is outdoors the permitted number of attendees is larger than in a synagogue. They finished just as we were about to say the Hallel, which we sing out loud.

Our attendees were both live on site and via zoom. I have a feeling that even when these restrictions are over, speedily in our days, people will still request to attend by zoom, since it's convenient for those not able to travel.

Rosh Chodesh Ellul will be two days, and I'll publicize exact time etc as soon as we decide, Gd willing.
On our way out, we discovered another outdoor prayer group. I'm very happy that people are coming from all over the country to doven/pray here in Holy Shiloh.
