"Private" Pool

We're in that depressing final countdown until the local pool closes for the winter. Today's the last Tuesday of the season.

When I got there this morning, a half hour after it opened, I was the first in the water and the only one for awhile. Then the lifeguard got in and then some women showed up, and then I had to get out already.

Now I must get ready for work. I wish I wasn't so tired.

It makes absolutely no sense to close a community pool so early in the year in a country as hot as ours. We've got another 2 months of swimming weather left- would your local council consider keeping it open longer?

There's not much that's more heavenly than having a swimming pool to oneself.

As far as the closing, I always dread the things that signify the end of the summer....

rr, It's not all that hot here by the time the holidays are over, and few people go once school starts. But the expenses stay high, even though they have it open fewer hours.

mizellie, what's really great is that it's close to the house, never crowded the hours I go, and I have no responsibilities towards it besides paying summer membership.

It's so hot; it's hard to believe that I'm supposed to be teaching again. Even worse for the kids; they don't believe they're supposed to listen and study.
