yes, family life

I'll be off for my weekly babysitting in a short time. It's nice that we live close enough and that I work part-time. My parents and in-laws were far away from us, so the visits were barely once a year, long, intense and sometimes not the stuff dreams are made of.

A couple of hours of babysitting once a week and Shabbat visits every few are just perfect.

And that was to introduce the latest Carnival of Family Life. Enjoy!

Nothing like family

Last night we had a family dinner with my visiting sister-in-law, brother-in-law and their two younger kids and my two eldest and the son-in-law and two totally irresistible granddaughters. Then today, when I was in Jerusalem, I ended up seeing them, just by chance. Later I went for my weekly babysitting.

I had a nice time with my elder granddaughter; the younger one had fallen asleep very, very early totally exhausted after entertaining all the visiting relatives.

Education and Family Life The Carnivals

Being a finalist in three* categories in JIB Awards hasn't dulled my appreciation of blog carnivals. I still think they're the best way of utilizing the medium of blogging.

As taught in Pirkei Avot, Ethics of the Fathers, "the wise man learns from everyone."

It all starts in the family, so here's the latest Carnival of Family Life.

And at some point, we all send our children out for others to educate. Here's NYC Educator's Carnival of Education.

All I ever wanted to be...

...was to be a mother. Really.

It was my priority career choice.

And as a grandmother now, I enjoy the Carnival of Family Life, and today I found something new in my mailbox, Today's Mama.

Enjoy!

Things are getting out of control

Yes, I'm busy, too!

I'm not getting everything done, so I'm closing the computer for a while. Busy day and all that.

Before I forget, take a gander at the latest Carnival of Family Life.

And if you've written to me, and I haven't answered, I'm just behind in my emailing. Nothing personal you see.

Welcome back!

Many of us who have been blogging through Pesach have noticed a bissel less traffic of late. Of course, those who keep those extra days of galut-holiday had less time. And some people were traveling and didn't have their usual convenient computer. There were some bloggers who announced even before Shabbat HaGadol that they'd be offline or "not blogging" until chametz was back in their lives.

If you blog about kosher food, pictures, recipes, opinions, funny stories, anything! please send me the link for the Kosher Cooking Carnival. Also to shilohmuse at yahoo dot com. Posts with pictures are great for JPix, and you can send them here.

Another carnival I like is the Carnival of Family Life, and here's the latest.

I'm a bissel bleary-eyed at the moment, since I haven't slept much the past two nights. The night after Passover, which wasn't last night here in Israel, I got back very late from the Maimona a neighbor hosted, and then I wasn't tired, so I went to bed hours later than usual. And last night I also didn't get much sleep, since I'm leaving, G-d willing, early to the pool, then meet friends, then babysit a bit.

Springtime for sure

One of the first signs of spring here are the new leaves on the grape vines. I noticed them a couple of hours ago. Grape vines always look dead in the winter, and just before winter ends, you're supposed to give them a "crew cut." My son did that during his last visit, the day after Purim.

This year the irises are each "doing their own thing" and blooming almost "one at a time."

And soon I'll be off for my weekly babysitting for my granddaughters, who are featured in the latest Carnival of Family Life. Take a gander; there are some great posts.
