Upgrading for Chanukah

Since I keep hearing that the real way to light the Hanukkah menorah aka chanukiya is outside the house, maybe I should buy myself a present.

Where do you light yours and how many does your family light?

Two people...one each and in the front window, so EVRYONE can see them!

We light ours in front of a window, yes, like Sandra, so everyone can see them!

I own six, and my grandies each have one of their own, and my daughter and son=in-law have two.

Sandra, Jewaicious, I've always liked our wide window sills full of chanukiyot, but now there are only two of us home... and I keep hearing shiurim to put them outside.

Outside is pushing my luck in Chutz! I light big candles so all the non Jews in my road can see!!

Sandra, yes, that's it. Though we've been in Israel over 40 years, my husband is still into the candles and window. Outside the door is teh Israeli psak.

Shalom!
The idea is to have the hanukia on one side of the door and the mezuza on the other so that one is surrounded by mitzvot. Sephardim light only one hanukia per household. We light one hanukia outside, opposite the mezuza.
If a household lights more than one hanukia they should be spaced far enough apart so that there is no confusion as to how many candles have been lit (i.e. what day of Hanuka it is).

Hadassa, interesting. We've always lit one per person, so there's no way we could light so many outside.
