Just Like In Israel!

I was totally dumbfounded at this Queens, NY, Kosher restaurant when I read the menu.  It was in the sort of garbled English you'd find in restaurants in Israel.  You'd think with all the expenses they'd want their restaurant to look 100% professional.

Everything else about it was good, including the fish we ordered.

It's the Yotveta (yes, that's how it's spelled on the sign) Kosher Dairy restaurant on Union Turnpike and 188th Street, Queens, New York City.

I love that broken English, with its convoluted Ivrit grammar. I guess I just miss Israel, is all.

They're just the same Israelis. I wonder how long they've been in America. They also take the typical Israeli-Martian approach of not asking anybody anything, like to have someone with a basic command of native English to proofread the copy.
Lady-Light, come home while the gettin' is still good.

LL, I guess you miss Israel too much. I think these mistakes show such a lack of professionalism and care. It makes me wonder about them.

goyish, I needed a strictly kosher restaurant close to my elderly aunt, and of course I didn't know about the menu until I was waiting there. It's so typical of Israeli "know it all" attitude ignoring common sense like we see from Ehud Barak, nu...

I love the "try color papers"!!!

Yes, though we didn't try them. They would pass spellcheck...

Actually, what the heck are "try color papers?" I couldn't figure that one out. Must be missing something (besides Israel!)

LL, I guess you were never a remedial EFL English Teacher. The intention was to write "tricolor peppers."

"Tri-color peppers?" Hahahah. You're kidding, right?
No, I never taught English at all. I taught Hebrew!

That's what happens when you're deprived by only knowing correct language and not eating in good Israeli restaurants where you'll get lots of peppers of different colors.
