Birthdays!

Doesn't everybody like birthdays?

Well, if you sign up (It's quick, easy and you can keep your age secret!) here, I'll send you a birthday wish. OK?

Actually, I have a pretty good memory for birthdays. When I was a kid, I'd read the "Family List" my Aunt Pauline sent out. This list had all of the names, addresses, phone members, birthdays, anniversaries, yartzeits and a "who's who" of the "his, hers and theirs" family which my mother is now the honored matriarch. She's the oldest surviving (ad me'ah esrim--she should live to 120!) sibling. Her seven elder siblings have all passed away; only she and her younger sister (ad me'ah esrim--she should live to 120!), my father and uncle are left. It's easy to pick out my parents in the table shot in the banner; they're the young, good-looking couple sitting down. My mother is also the cute little girl in the other picture and my father is in the third one with his father. As you've probably noticed, I look like my father.

We celebrate the Hebrew birthdays in our family, which isn't an option on this birthday list. But it's better than nothing. Doesn't everybody like receiving birthday cards?

hat tip to marallyn, thanks
