Bitter Sweet

This morning the local Shiloh swimming pool was full of women during our "women's hour," really two.  The water was glorious, the sun was shining, and we were having a great time.

But pretty soon, by the time we're fasting our Yom Kippur fast tomorrow, it will be as empty as you see here.

We'll just have memories.

G-d willing in a few months it will open again, and G-d willing the season will last more than three short months.  And G-d willing the winter's rain will be plentiful!

Not sure I understand the timing. Here, "pool season" is roughly between the July 1st and Labour Day weekends (ie September 1st-ish). Isn't it still hot there?

And why will they open it again in a few months? Won't that be winter???

Dumb questions - I know. I have had 40 years to ignore Israel's weather, but suddenly, it has started to feel more personal.

Anyway, sorry it has to end for the season. And amen about the rain (hey, that rhymes!).

We usually have it from mid-June to mid-Sept. I hope June will be soon.
The nights are getting colder and it takes longer to warm up in the morning.
